The 40-day period after the legislative session was as noteworthy for how it could have ended as it was for the way it did. In a typical year, it could have ended with Gov. Nathan Deal issuing a dozen or more vetoes and zeroed-out appropriations, triggering a cacophony of press conferences by angry legislators and special-interest groups screaming "foul" and "betrayal."

5/14/2012 - Walter Jones: What's in a College Name?
Playwright William Shakespeare first posed the question, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet."
The University System of Georgia's Board of Regents grappled with a version of that question during its May meeting. It wasn't discussing flowers or their fragrance but instead what moniker to put on a pair of colleges created by the merging of four institutions.
